On the afternoon of March 19th, the opening ceremony of the 2020 cultivation camp of Top-notch Innovative Talents Cultivation Program in Pharmacy of CPU was held on Jiangning Campus. Lai Maode, President of CPU & Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Yao Wenbing, Vice President of CPU & Dean of Mudi Meng Honors College, leaders of other departments and schools, and representatives of counselors were invited to attend. The ceremony was presided over by Vice President Yao Wenbing.
At the opening ceremony, Vice President Yao Wenbing first expressed sincere welcome to the leaders, teachers and all campers who participated the ceremony. He briefly introduced the development, cultivation and reform goal of Cultivation Program for Top-notch Innovative Talents in Pharmacy in our university, and delivered his heartfelt congratulations to all the students who enrolled the top-notch cultivation camp through competition. He gave his best wishes for the students hoping that they could work together and forge ahead hand in hand to successfully enjoy the top-notch cultivation camp.
Yang Yixin, a student from Class of Basic Science, the School of Pharmacy, spoke as a camper representative. She expressed the confidence and determination on behalf of all students to stick to their original aspiration. She said all talents should live up to the great trust of the motherland and contribute themselves to the development of national pharmaceutical industry from the perspectives of Why joining in the top-notch program? and What is a real top-notch talent?. At the same time, she wished this top-notch cultivation camp a complete success, and wished every student a harvest and growth.
Later, President Lai Maode delivered a speech entitled Pursuing Progress with Good Merits, Keeping Forging with Peace and Calmness. He introduced the background of the top-notch system 2.0 of basic disciplines and the original intention of the reform in our university. He emphasized that talents are the foundation of national development, and the cultivation goal of top-notch talents is to train international-level, outstanding, young talents equipped with strategic science and technology and innovative teams for the country. The reform must implement the national strategic policy, follow the rules of talent growth, break the score-only theory, and select talents with multiple backgrounds and patentials. Consequently, he put forward several hopes for the campers. Firstly, he hoped that the students would be striving for excellence, cultivate themselves, honest, mission-driven, and forging ahead. Secondly, he hoped that all campers would be peaceful and calm, happy and healthy in the cultivation camp and diligent, and continue to write the glorious story of themselves in line with the Chinese Dream. The last, thirdly, he also hoped that contemporary youth will closely combine the realization of personal value with the growing prosperity of the country, and shoulder the responsibility to achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Finally, President Lai Maode handed the flag to the campers. The representative of the top-notch cultivation camp waved the camp flag and expressed their determination to remember the entrustment and live up to the expectations.
It is reported that this cultivation camp will last for one month, and focus on the All-round (namely, the morals, intelligence, physical fitness, work and aesthetics) Education to carry out activities such as physical fitness, academic discussion, field practice, seminars and summary report, aiming at creating a brand-new model of selection by training and cultivation by selecting, so that more outstanding students with lofty aspirations, leadership potential, innovative thinking and scientific research capacity can benefit.
