On November 15th, Party Secretary Jin Nengming and Vice President Yao Wenbing visited Mudi Meng Honors College, listened to the latest report, and discussed with teachers and students of the academyon the cultivation of top-notch talents and the education reform. Staffs of the Academic Affairs Office, the Office of CPC CPU and in charge of Mudi Meng Honors College accompanied the visit.
Secretary Jin visited the one-stop education space of Mudi Meng Honors College. Vice President Sun Minjie introduced the running of the open reading corner, education space for party groups, teacher-student seminar rooms, multi-functional hall, gym, etc. Subsequently, Vice President Sun Minjie reported the education mode of academy system, the innovative liberal arts education management, the second classroom education ideas and innovative measures from the aspects of ideological and political construction of party building, innovation of student selection mechanism, teaching reform and academy project construction. Secretary Jin had exchanged opinions with the students in an easy-going air. He cared about the students' learning experience in the academy, and asked whether they had any difficulties and problems in their day-to-day study.
Vice-President Yao Wenbing emphasized that the National Top-notch Students Cultivation Program 2.0 Base put forward new requirements for talent cultivation. According to the requirements, the academy should innovate the concept and measures of top-notch students selection and cultivation, start with talent selection, break through the score-only theory and promote the integration of well-round (namely, the morals, intelligence, physical fitness, work and aesthetics) educations. Taking this as a starting point, the academy paid extra attention to the reform of talent cultivation mode, tried to identify the existing problems in talent cultivation and employment, and made intensive efforts to guide students to study and exercise in enterprises and grass-roots positionss.
Secretary Jin Nengming listened carefully to the report and pointed out that the academy had effectively explored the cultivation of top-notch innovative talents in basic disciplines, and affirmed the achievements of education and teaching reform since the establishment. The university established this academy aiming to co-ordinate the cultivation of top-notch innovative talents from all schools and departments. At present, the management mode of the academy has basically taken shape, and the educational concept of Three-Way Education and Well-Round Education among teachers has also been implemented and recognized. The curriculum reform, selection and evaluation reform have achieved its initial purposes, but we should continue to explore and analyze the challenges existing in all aspects of talent cultivation. He suggested to seriously consider three relationships in this program: first, clarify the relationship between free-range and captive, break through the single cultivation mode, and explore a new way to train talents in different directions under the unified management mode; The second is to highlight the characteristics of Centralized and Decentralized, when the students come together, act like a illuminating fire; when scatter as glaring stars, and it is necessary to unite the strength of top-notch innovative talents and give full play to the leading role of top-notch students; Third, take full use the characteristic advantages of Virtuality and Reality, target the right position and to complement each other
