On the evening of October 28th, Mudi Meng Honors College held a ceremony on freshmen and a report on popularization of pharmaceutical advances in the lecture hall on Jiangning Campus. Professor Wang Guangji, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Yao Wenbing, Vice-President of China Pharmaceutical University & Dean of Mudi Meng Honors College, Tang Weifang, Director of Academic Affairs Office, Jiang Cheng, Deputy Director of Academic Affairs Office, 2020 Top-notch Program Tutors, Tutors and Counselor Representatives of this academy were all invited to attend the event. The meeting was hosted by Vice Dean Liu Rui.
Focusing on the rule of three systems and three transformations (academy system, tutorial system, credit system & individualization, internationalization and small class setting), Mudi Meng Honors College explores a new pharmaceutical talent cultivation mode guided by the masters of pharmaceutical secience. It creates an academic community between teachers and students. Academician Wang Guangji of the Chinese Academy of Engineering was invited to deliver the first lecture on science popularization on phamraceutical advance, The report entitled Innovation and Development of Pharmacokinetics welcomed by the students. Academician Wang introduced detailedly the foundation of pharmacokinetics, the importance of pharmacokinetic research, the innovation and development of pharmacokinetics in our university, and the frontier knowledge on how to build a preclinical pharmacokinetic technical system in line with international standards, a new platform for innovative cell pharmacokinetics research, a new system for pharmacokinetic research of complex components of traditional Chinese medicine, and a new direction of pharmacokinetics of living cell drugs. He also explained the pharmacokinetic tutors and cultivation system of postgraduates in our university, the achivements of pharmacokinetic research along with the key laboratory of pharmacokinetics of CPU. Afterwards, Academician Wang highlighted the importance of pharmacokinetics in the R&D of new drugs in a simple way, which broadened students' vision of pharmacy and at the same time lit up their strong interest in newdrug research. The students benefited a lot from an in-depth talk with Academician Wang after the meeting.
In the admission ceremony, Vice Dean Sun Minjie introduced the overall situation of the academy to all freshmen thoroughly, briefly described the background, foundation and purpose of this program, together with the academy structure, major profiles and other aspects. She particularly focused on the innovative measures featuring well-round (namely, the morals, intelligence, physical fitness, work and aesthetics) education, the reform of curriculum-teacher-evaluation, the integration of three systems (academy system, tutorial system and credit system) and new talent selection mechanism. The starting point and goal of this program had also been introduced.
Zhang Chenyu, a freshman of Class 2021, spoke on behalf of all the students. He shared his story with CPU, expressing his passion for pharmacy and admiration for the lofty mission of pharmaceutical professions, and called on other students to strengthen their goals and ideals, and carry forward the credo of CPU Advancing Pharmacy for the public, bring glory to the university and serving the country and Be committed to academic excellence, be devoted to public health, so as to sruggle the pharmaceutical development of the motherland for life and contribute to the health and welfare for all.
Subsequently, Vice President Yao Wenbing and Director Tang Weifang issued letters of appointment for the tutor representatives of the Class 2020 from the top-notch program. Vice Dean Sun and Deputy Director Jiang Cheng awarded flags to the study teams of teachers and students.
Finally, Vice President Yao Wenbing made a concluding speech. He narrated the cultivation process of top-notch talents in our university, and pointed out that Mudi Meng Honors College is a brand-new attempt of education reform with distinctive characteristics. The top-notch program of Class 2020 breaks the routine situation of evaluating students based on scores alone, our university will further the reform of education evaluation mechanism, build an interdisciplinary and comprehensivve talent cultivation system, and explore new measures to promote the Exemptions from the Postgraduates Entrance Exam Procedure and the of honorary students plan. He emphasized that students should set the concept of patient-centered study, strive to become pharmaceutical professions who have good understanding, passion and srong will for pharmacy research. He also put forward three expectations for students: cultivation of morality, inheritance & innovation, and then forging hard.
